Discover and unleash your gifts: Church ablaze is a day for Young adults aged 16-30 to embark on a journey of discovery as you discern your unique charisms and find your authentic role in the Church. We know that we have so many young adults in our Archdiocese who have such a range of unique gifts and talents that we want to help to nurture and give opportunities to share. Through a range of activities and workshops, we will aim to begin this process of discerning and building-up the charisms of young people all in the context of a friendly and fun day. This event will be held at Alton Castle on Saturday 1st February 2020 from 10am-4pm. Lunch is provided free of charge. Transport is available. For more information or to book, please email Megan.

*NEW DATES!*

We have a great opportunity to offer over the weekend of 13th-15th March 2020 at Soli in conjunction with the Humanum Institute. With the RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) curriculum coming to schools in 2020, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop a secure understanding of what the Church teaches about love, relationships and sex so that you can confidently share this good news with young people.

For more information or to book your place, please contact Erin.
Prices: £80 for those who are waged and £50 for those who are unwaged - this includes food and accommodation. This is event is for those aged 18+.

Continuing the synod journey

The Kenelm Youth Trust and the Vocations Department have been working closely together for the last two years on the Papal Synod; ‘The Faith, Young People and Vocational Discernment’.
In response to the global conversation the Church initiated for the Synod we began a process of listening exercises and dialogue within our Catholic schools, universities, parishes and ecumenically within the City of Birmingham. We were keen to enter the voice of our young people into that global conversation and we spoke to 1000 young people who were aged between 13 and 25 years and though from within our Catholic schools were from all faiths and none. A thousand young people had the opportunity to join an open conversation and share their experiences and views on faith and vocational discernment in the context of their own circumstances and culture.  We asked a series of questions based on the initial document from Pope Francis introducing the Synod. The results we collated into what has become a living document that records not only the voice of our young people but also our strategies and projects for development based on that voice and the Papal Exhortation ‘Christus Vivit’.
Please find below a series of reports and research around the synod documenting the voices of young people and the responses to the conversation:

‘The Voice of young people from across the Archdiocese of Birmingham 2018’  - Archdiocese of Birmingham
SYNOD Video -  Archdiocese of Birmingham video capturing the voice of young people and the Synod Journey.
Complex Catholicism - The Catholic Youth Ministry Federation in England and Wales commissioned SYNOD research project
The Brightlights Report - by Danny Curtin

Vatican Documents:

Pope Francis' letter to young people
SYNOD Final Document
Christus Vivit - The Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of the Holy Father Francis to young people and to the entire people of God.
