Safeguarding

The Kenelm Youth Trust promotes the safe recruitment of volunteers in the Archdiocese of Birmingham and works in partnership with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.

KYT retreat centres...

The Kenelm Youth Trust has two retreat centres that minister to young people all over Birmingham Archdiocese (and beyond). Every year, thousands of young people visit us, including parish youth groups and school groups. We are committed to the safeguarding of all young people and vulnerable adults who visit us, ensuring our retreat centres are safe, welcoming spaces where each visitor is valued.
All of our staff and volunteers receive comprehensive safeguarding training, working within our safeguarding policy, which is available below. Follow the link to read our full Safeguarding Policy.
For any queries about safeguarding at one of our retreat centres, head to our Retreat Centre safeguarding page.

In parishes...

Volunteers to Parish Youth Ministry are largely managed by Parish Safeguarding Representatives who will provide the necessary forms for those who take responsibility for or who have significant regular contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults.

Every parish should have a Safeguarding Representative, if you are unsure who this is please ask your parish priest or call the Safeguarding Team on
0121 230 6240.

Birmingham Catholic Youth Service also offers training for parish volunteers, to ensure youth groups operate within safeguarding guidelines, ensuring young people and leaders are kept safe from harm. Please contact your local development worker for more information. Visit our 'contact us' page to see who your local development worker is.
