What is Mission Malawi 2024?
In July 2024, KYT are taking a small group of young adults aged 18-35 on a 2 week mission to the Bunda region in Malawi. This group of young adults will participate in an existing programme set up in Malawi which includes 3 schools and a Health Clinic. This would be an extraordinary opportunity to experience new cultures and their faith, to serve those living in extreme poverty and broaden your own experience of faith and mission at home and abroad.
- To visually learn about the impacts of climate change and the already established and ongoing environmental projects advocating for climate justice and sustainable development. Such projects target those most affected and marginalised in the community as emphasised by Pope Francis in his Encyclical 'Laudato Si'.
- Share skills and abilities with young people through lessons and relief for current staff, teaching English, dance, sports, arts and crafts, photography and a range of other areas of expertise within the group. We will also learn a great deal from the young adults in Malawi through dance, music, cooking etc.
- Work to establish a sustainable food source for the most vulnerable young people within the schools, who are unable to engage with learning due to malnourishment and other health problems.
- To provide fundamental healthcare for children with treatable conditions that would otherwise be left untreated.
